An Orange Float Creamsicle Cupcake is a fun dessert to serve at a party. This recipe is easy to make and is the perfect thing to pair with Orange Floats!
Summer is just FLYING by! I’ve been on vacation since July 12 and here it is the end of July already! It feels like we just watched Independence Day fireworks last night! That being said, we are having the most wonderful summer and I can’t be thankful enough. I apologize for the lack of posts and interaction but things will hopefully get back to normal in August once I am done traveling.
One of the things we enjoy in the summer is having orange floats. If you’ve never had an orange float, it is just like a root beer float but instead of root beer, you use orange pop. So, I put all of that goodness into these orange float creamsicle cupcakes!
Mix together one white cake mix, one can of orange pop, and orange food coloring. If the orangesicle cake mix isn’t available in your area, use a white cake mix instead and add a teaspoon of orange extract.
Fill 24 muffin cups 2/3 of the way with the cake batter and bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes.
While the cupcakes are baking, make orange creamsicle buttercream! YUM! I used this Buttercream Frosting Recipe. I mixed together butter, shortening, powdered sugar, heavy cream, orange oil, vanilla and marshmallow cream.
I stored the orange creamsicle buttercream in the fridge to harden while the cupcakes cooled. When they were ready, I put them into adorable chevron print cupcake liners and added a scoop of orange creamsicle buttercream to the top of each cupcake to make it look like a scoop of ice cream.
We cut striped paper straws into small segments and inserted a straw into each scoop of orange creamsicle buttercream.
