We love having guests at out house anytime but it is even easier in the summer! Not only do we have the usual guests for fun filled evenings but we also have out-of-town guests! One of my best friends lives in another states and she will come to stay with her kids. We’ve also had my brother & sister-in-law as overnight guests this summer. But before we have more guests, my bathroom needed a quick makeover! The rug on the floor in the “before picture” is so old that I don’t remember when I bought it. The hand towel blends into the white tile and there is nothing on the walls. We live in a rental house so I can’t change the mirror or the cabinets but we did paint the walls when we moved in. That would be the first step in a makeover! If you have enough time, giving the walls a new coat of paint transforms a space!
The first step in getting ready for guests is to get out the cleaning supplies and give the bathroom a good scrubbing! A couple of cleaning tips I have are to use old toothbrushes for scrubbing small spaces and the other is to cut up old t-shirts for rags. After cleaning, put out a new air freshener to keep the bathroom smelling good!
The second step was to pick up a couple of new hand towels and a new bath rug. These will brighten up the space and make it look fresh!
The third step was to make myself some cute green glass jars! I was inspired by a tutorial by Jennifer at Delightfully Noted for these jars. My “jars” are actually jelly jar lamp shades that I bought for $2.49/each. I think they are a great alternative to the mason jar!
5) Place on the counter and fill with cotton balls, cotton swabs and floss picks.
The fourth step is to make a mesh box holder to house a package of Kleenex Hand Towels because even though I bought a new set of hand towels, the disposable Kleenex Hand Towels are perfect to have available for use when guests are over!
The final step is to create a small basket of travel sized toiletries for guests. If they forgot anything at home, they can use the items in the basket!

I love the idea of those hand wipes Tonia. They haven’t hit our shores yet. Although I could just see my kids using them for everything except wiping their hands. And what do I do for my guests? Show them where the kettle is! (Just kidding.)Anne xx
