What To Look For When Choosing Corn On The Cob
1) Buy the freshest corn on the cob you can find. I often end up buying it at the grocery store since it is most convenient but farm stands and farmer’s markets are the best options.
2) The corn on the cob should look fresh and green. The husks should be tightly wrapped around the corn. Avoid the wilting, shriveling, dry looking ones.
3) Choose the ears with sticky brown silks and skip the ones with black dry silks.
4) Check the stalk to see if it is still moist.
5) Without totally peeling the corn, pull back the husks at the top of the ear to take a peek at the corn inside to make sure it looks good.
