If you need a last-minute gift, make a batch of peppermint syrup and give it along with a coffee mug and a bag of coffee beans.
Put the granulated sugar and water in a saucepan and stir to combine.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat stirring occasionally. Boil for one minute and then remove from heat.
Allow the simple syrup to cool for 10-15 minutes. Then, stir in the peppermint extract.

Mint extract is made with a mixture of spearmint and peppermint. On the other hand, peppermint extract is made with only peppermint.
Yes, you can use mint extract instead of peppermint extract to flavor this simple syrup but keep in mind the flavor will be different.
Transfer the peppermint syrup to a labeled bottle or container and store it in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.

Peppermint Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
Instructions
- Stir together granulated sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil stirring occasionally. Boil for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat. Allow the syrup to cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Stir in the peppermint extract.
- Cool to room temperature and transfer into a bottle or jar.
- Store in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks or store in the freezer in an airtight container.

Unfortunately, the peppermint extract just sat on top of the syrup and didn’t go into the mixure. I follewed the steps exactly. So dissappointing and a waste of time
