This Bacon Mac and Cheese Bites recipe is a cheesy appetizer that everyone loves. Make them for your next party or as a fun family dinner!
When it comes to appetizers what could be better than combining macaroni and cheese with bacon? These Bacon Mac and Cheese Bites can be prepared ahead of time and warmed up right before serving. Or make them as a fun dinner for your family!
How To Make Bacon Mac and Cheese Bites
Step One: Line The Muffin Pan
First, grease the muffin pan cups using cooking spray. Line the cups with precooked bacon.
Step Two: Fill With Mac and Cheese
Fill the cups with macaroni and cheese. You can use your favorite homemade recipe or use the boxed kind. I used Annie’s Shells and White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese and added one cup of finely shredded cheddar cheese. I had about 2 1/2 cups of mac and cheese to divide between the cups.
Step Three: Sprinkle and Bake
Sprinkle the mac ‘n cheese with Italian panko. I used Progresso Italian Panko Style Breadcrumbs. Bake them at 350˚F for 15 minutes. Serve these tasty bites while warm.

Is there any way to keep these warm at a potluck that is a few hours long? I’ll have people rotating in for two hours and would want these to taste great for the last group. You said the slow cooker would
make them soggy. Thanks.
Tonia says
Hi Cara,
The lid of the crockpot collects moisture and it drips back down onto whatever is in the crockpot. That would be good for keeping the mac and cheese warm but the bacon wouldn’t stay crispy. There are a couple of things you could try. If you drape paper towels over the crockpot before adding the lid, the paper towels will absorb the condensation. The paper towels can be tossed and replaced as needed. You can see how I did it in this recipe: https://www.thegunnysack.com/slow-cooker-cheesy-potato-casserole-recipe/
Another option would be to keep them warm in the crockpot without the lid or with the lid partially covering the crock.
Best of luck!

I love this! Whenever I make mac and cheese at home, I always make a HUGE pan of it. So this is going to make a two-fer recipe for me, especially with the 4th coming up. I’ll make my giant pan of mac & cheese, serve half as mac & cheese, and take the other half and make these cute little bites to also serve on the buffet table. I love easy recipes like this! Thanks so much for sharing it!

can these be kept warm in a slow cooker?
Tonia says
I think they might start falling apart in the slow cooker. Plus the bacon would get soggy and the mac and cheese would dry out. ~Tonia
