What You’ll Find In This Post
3 Ingredient Honey Mustard
This 3 ingredient honey mustard, is the easiest dipping sauce ever! Which is a great thing because you’ll want to make it again and again. Plus, you probably have these three ingredients on hand most of the time.
Hot Honey
We wanted to make spicy honey mustard, so we started with hot honey. Hot honey is made of honey, crushed red peppers, and apple cider vinegar. We used our recipe to make it, but you can also buy it in many grocery stores with all of the other honey options.
If you want a milder version, you can substitute the hot honey with plain honey. And if you want an even spicier version, go with the extra hot bottle.
Mayonnaise
- The mayonnaise adds a creamy tanginess to the sauce.
- It also helps the sticky honey and Dijon mustard combine into a smooth, creamy sauce.
- Although you can substitute the regular mayo with light mayo or even Greek yogurt, keep in mind that the flavor and texture may vary.
Mustard
We used Dijon mustard for its smooth, creamy texture with a sharp, tangy flavor. It’s the classic choice for spicy honey mustard. See our Dijon mustard substitute post if you don’t have any on hand.
How To Make Spicy Honey Mustard
Recipes really don’t get any easier than this! All you do is measure and stir. Plus, you can use more or less of any of the ingredients to customize the sauce. Or if you only need a little sauce, you can reduce the recipe.
Measure the hot honey, mayo, and Dijon mustard into a small bowl. Whisk them together until a smooth, creamy sauce forms.
Flavor Variations
If you’re looking to switch up the flavor profile of this sauce, there are a few variations you can try. For a smoky flavor, you can add a teaspoon of smoked paprika. If you want a bit of tanginess, add a teaspoon of lemon juice. And if you want to make it even spicier, use extra hot honey, add a little hot sauce, or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Make Ahead It Ahead of Time
You can make spicy honey mustard ahead of time so that it is chilled and ready to use when you need it. After mixing up the sauce, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. We do not recommend storing this sauce in the freezer.
